Surveillance footage captured the moment a vehicle sped down a street in Modesto on Tuesday before it crashed into a tree and caught fire.A woman driving the Tesla was killed in the crash, police said. Modesto police said they responded at 12:25 p.m. to the crash on Washington Street near K Street. Police said their preliminary investigation found that the vehicle had earlier been involved in a collision at the intersection of K Street and 6th Street. KOVR-TV said a member of its news crew was involved in the collision and was OK. People working nearby rushed over to help.Destiny Prunty was on her lunch break when she heard the sound of the first crash. “We heard the commotion, and then we finally came outside, and then we were paying attention to where the fire was at," she said. "She was still in the car. So we're like, 'let's go over there. Let's go help her.' So we just ran out there to her and then we just asked was she OK. She was just having a panic attack.”The vehicle later lost control at the intersection at 4th Street and crashed again. The driver hit a parked car before the Tesla became engulfed in flames.The video footage shared with KCRA 3 does not show the moment of impact but shows the car flying in the air.Walter Fisher lives right by the crash and saw it happen from his front yard. He ran out to try and help the victim."Ran over there to see what was up and it was on fire," he said. "We broke the window pulled out the airbag, and tried to pull her out. She was already unconscious." Fisher said he grabbed the person by the shirt but people nearby were saying that the driver was dead. "They're yelling at me, you know? I have to get away from it," he said.
